The Nassau County Legislature has approved an increase the tax map verification letter charge. The Legislature voted to raise real estate fees by nearly 60 percent to raise $15 million to help close a hole in the 2017 county budget.
Effective January 1, 2017, the Tax Map Verification Letter Fee will be increase from $225 to $355 per letter effectively raising the fee to record any document in Nassau County by an additional $130.
The Verification letter and fee is required by the Nassau County Clerk for recording of any instrument.
The fee is required pursuant to Section 6-33.0 of the Nassau County Administrative Code as amended under Local Law.
